Wear the right size clothes. Don’t worry about the number, you will never look slimmer in clothes that are too baggy or too tight.
Clothing that is slightly tailored, will be much more flattering than loose baggy styles. Be prepared to make alterations to your outfits if necessary.
Choose fabrics that have some firmness to them, so your clothing doesn’t cling.
Clothes that are too loose with make you look bigger and frumpy. Create a look where your clothing drapes over your frame without grabbing or hanging in loose folds.
Darker colours from your palette help you to look slimmer. Don’t just choose black automatically, if it doesn’t suit you. All dark colours will have the same effect. Try your navy, grey, burgundy, or brown. Soften the look with colourful accessories.
Particularly effective, is wearing your dark colours on the areas of your body you want to minimise, and then add brighter or lighter colour and print to highlight areas you are happy with. Try dark wash denim instead of the faded looks. These can look very smart and are also dressier than the pale wash.
Vertical necklines in shirts, tops, dresses and cardigans draw the eye up and down elongating and narrowing your look. Avoid horizontal necklines like crew necks and boat necks as they broaden your shoulders and make your bust look larger.
More ways of creating vertical details are through stripes, pleats, zippers, seams and creases. All of these features trick the eye and make you look taller and narrower. Avoid horizontal stripes unless you are trying to broaden and draw attention to an area for instance your bustline.
